Laura Johnson Photography | Senior Style Guide

Hey - You’ve just become apart of the LJP senior team, welcome! I’m so glad to have you join my photography team. My goal for you is to have the best time during your session. I’m very laid back, and have some of the best jokes (now’s when you laugh ;)). I enjoy getting creative with my senior clients so that we can highlight the memories you’ve created during your time in high school. I want you to look back at your gallery and remember every moment. Also, as a bonus for my clients I bring along a portable changing room and mirror for you to use to make outfit changes quick and easy!

The Dudes…

Guys, listen - I know most of you don’t want to do these, I know most of you will roll your eyes right about now…. you see I grew up with two older brothers, so I get it. I’ll make sure your senior session is very relaxed, very easy, and if you want, very quick!

My style tips for you:

Come to your session with an open mind. I suggest you do one outfit that makes you feel comfortable. The outfit you wear when you go hang out with friends. That can be your favorite shirt, a pair of shorts, your dudes slip ons, berkinstocks or slides. Remember to keep these items timeless, solid colors or simple prints - just ask your parents, some current trends you won’t want to be documented! ;)

Next, bring one outfit that mom wants, yep let’s make mom happy. That can be a collared button down shirt, a polo, or a sweater - this also means you’ll need a pair of nice jeans and a clean pair of nice shoes.

Lastly, if you’re in any sports - pack your jersey or a team shirt or hoodie to display your pride for your school. These are some of my favorite pictures because the style is timeless.

The Ladies

Ladies, I love fashion but I also love a good basic outfit. You might be feeling overwhelmed with outfit choices, I get it - I plan my families outfits for pictures yearly and I stress about it too! Let’s take a look at the basics and build your outfits around that. When you look back at your senior pictures I want you to see a beautiful confident young woman ready to take on the next steps of her life!

My style tips for you:

A good basic outfit. This would be the outfit you wear to go get ice cream with friends. Something that is comfortable and casual. Next you can bring in some glam! Pack your prom dress for full glam, or go simple with a summer dress. These pictures will be more playful and could be some of your favorites! You can also pack some thing that is a statement piece, like a fun jumper or amazing bell bottom jeans. This type of outfit will set you apart from your friends! Lastly, I suggest you show off your school pride, bring your jersey, a school shirt, your cheerleading outfit or even a dance outfit. Use these pictures so show off your passions!
